WP7 Meeting: BfArM Hosts a Two-Day Meeting in Bonn

On 4 and 5 November 2024, BfArM welcomed CHESSMEN WP7 partners in Bonn, Germany, for a two-day hybrid meeting. The event aimed to advance WP7’s objectives while reviewing the overall progress of the CHESSMEN Joint Action.

Led by BfArM, WP7 focuses on developing a European IT Concept Model to monitor and manage medicine shortages. This model integrates existing tools and best practices from EU Member States, aiming to enhance data interoperability between systems and ensuring the easy and direct availability of information on supply shortages.

The meeting featured presentations from several partners, including BfArM, AEMPS, JAZMP, BASG, FIMEA, INFARMED, I.P., and EMA.

Key Highlights of the discussion:

A draft framework for a concept platform to monitor and manage medicine shortages, emphasizing a unified approach that leverages Member State practices.
Updates on the progress of deliverables from WP2, WP5, WP6, WP7, and WP8.
Required data for shortage management and roundtable discussion on the definition of data elements.
Presentations on Austria’s Pharos system and updates on the European Shortages Monitoring Platform (ESMP), including ongoing developments and future compatibility.
